Frequently Asked Questions:
Robina, the owner, is pretty fussy when she travels, so we have attempted to answer some of the questions she asks
when staying elsewhere, as well as some things unique to Skyview.
Q. Do we need our own transport?
A. Absolutely. We are situated 17 minutes from the Queenstown airport, 25 minutes from Queenstown and 40 minutes from
Wanaka. See the links page for rental car companies in Queenstown if you are not self driving.
Q. Are there extra costs to use the facilities at Skyview?
A. No. Use of the pool, climbing wall, walking tracks, etc are all included. We also provide laundry soap, and of course
supplies for the bathrooms, toilets, and kitchen. Firewood is provided as are sheets, towels, pillow cases, blankets,
duvets. We stock some basic, non-perishable supplies in the kitchen (herbs, spices, organic coffee and teas, etc).
Unfortunately, we cannot provide CD's for the stereo. There is Sky TV and a DVD player and there is an ADSL wireless
modem set up in the lodge now, free for your use. There is an
Ethernet cable for you to hook in directly to a
laptop or you can connect by cordless wireless.
Q. What about food shopping?
A. If you are arriving via the airport, turn left at the first round-about and follow the signs to Remarkables Park
supermarket (New World). If in Queenstown, there is a large supermarket on Gorge road (Fresh Choice) or the Alpine Food
Mart on the corner of Shotover and Stanley Streets. Wanaka and Cromwell both have New World supermarkets. All are open
until 8 p.m. Arrowtown has an adequately supplied dairy (Arrowtown Night and Day Store) open until 11 p.m.
Q. Check out time?
A. 11 a.m. following your last night unless other arrangements have been agreed to prior.
Q. Is there a bath?
A. Yes. 3 bedrooms have showers, all 4 bedrooms have toilets. Additionally, there is a wheelchair
accessible bathroom on
the ground floor which has a toilet, double shower and bath. There is also an outside bath.
Q. Cleanliness?
A. As mentioned above, Robina is fussy. We maintain a very high level of cleanliness and we also pay attention to the
'shelf life' of the furnishings within. Pillows are replaced, carpets and windows are professionally cleaned, the
chimney is swept, grounds weeded and replanted, and we hope you will bring to our attention anything which you think
needs repairing, replacing, updating, or removing. As the building was completely
remodelled in 2003, things are in
pretty good shape.
